摘要:高等院校英语学科教育改革对我国大学英语教师的职前教育提出了更高水平的要求。然而,现阶段的我国大学英语教师的职前教育在研究和实践中都还处于起步阶段,如何应对教育改革对职前教育的要求成为急需解决的问题。本文简要介绍了参与大学英语教师职前教育的院校情况及现阶段对该问题的研究现状,提出了现阶段我国大学英语教师职前教育中存在的教学与实践、教学方法、教育理念、课程结构及教育资金等方面的问题。

adays, however, both the study and practice of pre-service teacher education are just at the initial stage. To make qualified pre-service education is the key to the reform of education. Consequently, This paper introduces the training institutions involved in the college English teacher education as well as the current research status of this issue. It points out that the issues of pre-service college English teacher education are existing in several area as teaching and practice, teaching concept, teaching methodology, curriculum structure and the educational fund.

1.Introduction

This thesis is a study on college English teacher-education which plays a very important role in English teachers’ professional development. It has been undertaken to introduce the current situation of China’s college English teacher-education in pre-service period and the issues alive in order to address several suggestions for its development.
China’s current foreign English teacher education system has been in operation over half a century. However, various defects of the existing foreign English teacher education system appear shortages and issues in many aspects. As a consequence, to reform and develop the current foreign English teacher education system, efforts should be made to combine theory and practice, change the concept of teacher education and improve the foreign English teacher education curriculum standards. Meanwhile, measures are to be taken to improve the teaching methods, train the teachers’ high-level and basic skills comprehensively.
“The study on college English teacher-education in pre-service period is on the beginning stage based on an analysis of thesis published in a variety of core journals.”, pointed out by Gao Qiang and Zhu Yushan (2007: 5). 1.3 Good Morality and Ethics

The quality of college English teachers can be stressed on three aspects. The first one is morality and ethics. The second one is artistic appreciation. The third one is professional knowledge. The last two elements he been discussed in the aforementioned section and in this section, the morality and ethics college English teachers should he are to be conferred. The one who wants to teach others must know what to teach first, the one who molds the others' spirit must he a respectable spirit. 3.2 Current Issues

Education plays the most significant role in the long-range program of China's Peaceful Rise. Teacher-education, however, is the foundation of the education for all. The contemporary college English teacher-education system has been in operation since 1949 which has cultivated a large number of outstanding English teachers. asingly serious. Consequently, to find out the nearby issues as well as solutions plays a significant role.

2.1 Theory and Practice Separation

Nowadays, college English teacher's education in pre-service period separates the theory from practice and ignores the principal status that English teachers should he had.
First, those training courses offered to student English teachers are chiefly conducted by professors and lecturers. As a result, all of those courses he a far distance from the teaching practice. Second, student English teachers always receive both knowledge and professional training passively in a group of diverse teacher training activities. Therefore, students themselves also neglect the practical knowledge which leads to a limitation of their self-development and active exploration.

2.2 Backward Teaching Concept

Teaching concept, which usually refers to teaching belief or teaching idea, is considered one of the most important factors while affecting the teaching behior. Thus, the obtaining of appropriate teaching concept is a prerequisite for the student-teachers' future teaching activity. Thus, in order to cultivate the students with a superior knowledge of the culture and society, college English teachers themselves should he a wide range of knowledge.

4.3 Improvement of Curriculum

The curriculum for English teacher-education must he a balanced structure of knowledge which means that each kind of knowledge must take a part in the curriculum. On the contrary the current curriculum for English teacher-education is to some extent, imbalanced.
The quintessential point to set up a curriculum is to make it an integrated entirety which means that the contents of different subjects should be connected and the contents of the curriculum should be connected with teaching.

4.4 Change of Teaching Methodology

The method of teacher-education varies. Because each method has its own characteristic, function, merit and demerit, it is of great significance to adopt various methods to serve teaching objectives in practice. In sum, both direct input method and the method on the combination of theory and practice should be used at the same time in foreign English teacher-education.

4.5 Increase of Investment in Education

Increase in education expenditure can improve education condition and provide material guarantee for the quality and quantity of teacher educators. In a word, teacher-education should be further developed in order to provide learning opportunity for teacher educators, such as attending some courses in Education Master of Art (Ed. MA) program, establishing a corporative relationship with other normal universities. 5.Conclusion

Education plays a significant role in the progress of a nation which requires teachers to he a serious attitude towards their teaching activities. The distinguishing characters of education require a high standard for the quality of teachers. The student English teachers will be the English teachers in the future. They must take up the responsibility to improve the English learning of the entire nation in the future.
