简论翻译以纽马克翻译论述看《红楼梦》两个英译本中喜剧性元素翻译

摘要:喜剧在我们生活中很常见,它为我们的生活增添了许多乐趣。“喜剧”一词主要有两种含义:一是指艺术体现形式,与悲剧相对应;二是指美学上的审美范畴。人们倾向于把喜剧理解为一种艺术体现形式,而忽略了它审美范畴的这层含义。喜剧性小说常常以具体的艺术体现形式来描述喜剧性因素,以而创造出喜剧性的审美效果。作为中国四大古典名著之一,《红楼梦》一直很受读者的欢迎。而霍克斯和杨宪益的红楼译本作为仅有的两个全译本,一直是翻译探讨的对象。尽管《红楼梦》是一部悲剧小说,但书中也有颇多喜剧性的场景、情节和对话。喜剧性元素在推动故事情节、刻画人物性格、深化悲剧主题方面发挥着重要的作用。然而,根据网上数据库的检索,至今几乎没有关于《红楼梦》喜剧性元素翻译的比较探讨。在纽马克之前关于翻译对策的比较探讨的焦点多集中在直译和意译上面,而纽马克认为前人的直译和意译论述缺乏实用价值,由此他提出了语义翻译和交际翻译论述。语义翻译和交际翻译分别以源语作者和目的语读者为出发点,并且将原文的文本类型考虑在内。这样,译者就可以根据读者群体的特点来决定用语义翻译还是交际翻译策略,以便译文能够更好地被不同的读者群所接受。鉴于纽马克论述的实用性,本论文试图以纽马克的语义翻译和交际翻译论述为基础来比较探讨《红楼梦》杨霍两个译本中喜剧性元素的翻译。探讨发现:在翻译喜剧性因素时,杨宪益更倾向于语义翻译,而霍克斯则偏爱交际翻译。但这并不是唯一的对策,两位译者还会根据具体情况综合运用语义翻译和交际翻译。论文得出结论:在翻译实践中译者首先应该以多方面考虑原文作者和译文读者的特点,然后再决定利用语义翻译还是交际翻译,或者两种策略综合采取。对《红楼梦》喜剧性因素翻译进行比较探讨可以推动翻译论述探讨,进而提升英汉翻译实践水平,弘扬中华民族光辉灿烂的文化。关键词:《红楼梦》两译本论文比较论文喜剧性元素翻译论文语义翻译论文交际翻译论文
