摘要:在浩如烟海的文学著作中,《红楼梦》是一颗璀璨的明珠。其中大量的诗词曲赋,对全书主题思想的深化和情节结构的展开起着重要作用。自19世纪30年代以来,《红楼梦》已经有了多种英译本。由英国的邦索尔神父于20世纪50年代末独立完成的英译文是世界上第一个120回全译本。该译文虽然未能以书本的形式正式出版,但其电子版本的发布(2004)同样堪称《红楼梦》英译史上的里程碑。帕尔默文化语言学究其根本是关于意象的论述。帕尔默认为,语言是语言符号基于意象的排列,而意象实际上又是由文化决定的。意象、语言、文化三者的联系构成了文化语言学的核心。在定义“意象”概念时,他引用了语言学家Ronald A. Finke曾提出的四项基本原则,即知觉对等原则、空间对等原则、转换对等原则、结构对等原则,认为可将其作为理解意象的基础。同时,他也阐述了自己对这些原则运用到语言与文化探讨领域的理解。本论文探讨在帕尔默文化语言学视角下邦译本的诗歌意象翻译,尤其以理解意象的基本原则出发,试图探讨该论述在其译文中的指导作用。以该译本中的诗歌意象为案例,围绕两个不足展开浅析:邦索尔是怎样翻译红楼梦诗歌意象的?如何将帕尔默关于心理意象的四项原则运用到邦译本诗歌意象的翻译浅析中?全文共分为五章:第一章首先介绍邦译本、中西方文论中意象的流变、相关领域的探讨,并阐明本论文的目的、作用、结构。第二章奠定帕尔默文化语言学的论述框架,对其核心概念“意象”及理解意象的基本原则进行一一说明。第三章将红楼梦的诗歌意象分为三类:自然界意象,人生意象、神话意象。第四章在帕尔默四项基本原则关照下,大量举例剖析邦译本中诗歌意象的翻译,主要有保留意象、改述意象,添加意象,丢失意象,误译意象五种情况,以四项原则为标准来检测译文是否能较好地体现原文意象的内涵,并提出帕尔默文化语言学给予诗歌意象翻译的启迪。第五章总结本探讨的主要成果,指出其局限性及进一步探讨的方向。通过深入浅析,本论文加深了对邦译本的认识,为以后的探讨者提供其译文中丰富的诗歌意象语料,希望能引起学界对该译本更多的关注。关键词:邦索尔论文红楼梦论文帕尔默论文文化语言学论文意象论文诗歌翻译论文
