摘要:现代翻译文学除单行译本之外,也包括各种期刊杂志上发表的大量译作。《小说月报》(1910-1932)作为发表新文学的重要阵地,登载了大量的翻译文学作品,是中国现代文学史上出版时间最长、最受民众欢迎、影响最为广泛的文学期刊之一,堪称现代翻译文学的典范。《小说月报》1910年创刊于上海,是商务印书馆发行的第五本杂志。学界多以1921年沈雁冰对《小说月报》的革新为界,把它的进展分为前后两个时期。以创刊至1920年底是它的前期,分别由王蕴章和恽铁樵主编,共刊登翻译小说179部,因娱乐性和消遣性主题的文学作品居多,体现出显著的旧文学性;革新后的《小说月报》更加重视外国文学的译介,翻译小说数量激增至430部,大量“为人生”的、以现实主义为主题的优秀文学作品被译介,成为发表新文学的重要阵地。直至1932年因“一·二八”战火停刊,该杂志先后共出版22卷,256期(包括增刊4期),共译介30多个国家,300余位作家,近900篇文学作品,其中600多篇小说。值得注意的是,革新之后,《小说月报》的翻译小说不仅数量惊人,在国别、作家及作品主题的选材上也较前期发生了根本性的变化,正是这一独特的翻译现象引起了作者的探讨兴趣。这不仅显示出《小说月报》作为一份现代文学刊物的显著特点,同时也体现了时代大背景下期刊翻译文学所具有的独特面貌,集中代表了转型时期的主流文学思潮对于翻译话语的影响。由此,对这一翻译现象的考察及其外部历史环境的探讨,可以为我们整个清末民初的翻译论述语境乃至文学文化语境,提供一个重要而独特的切入点。但是目前对期刊翻译文学的探讨相对匮乏,对《小说月报》的翻译小说选材探讨更少。已有的探讨主要围绕翻译文学史和翻译论述两方面展开,一方面这些探讨为我们提供了丰富的史料,拓展了我们对《小说月报》进行多角度翻译探讨的论述视野;另一方面他们的探讨或局限于历史资料的搜集和整理,或局限于《小说月报》革新前后,没有对《小说月报》进行过整体的探讨,也没有对其翻译小说选材进行过全面深入的探讨。鉴于此,本论文将运用翻译探讨的文化学派代表人物、美国翻译论述家和比较文学家安德烈·勒菲弗尔的改写论述对《小说月报》做一次整体性而非阶段性的比较探讨,深入发掘其革新前后翻译小说选材发生突变的根本理由,希望为期刊翻译文学的探讨做出一些贡献。勒菲弗尔在其改写论述中指出,翻译是一种改写,改写即操纵,不同历史时期的改写要受意识形态和主流诗学的操控,最终与权力联系,变成为其服务的一种手段。由此,改写论述的探讨重点在于意识形态对译者、翻译对策及目的语文化带来的压力和影响。翻译的选材作为翻译对策的一种,是翻译的第一步骤,翻译选材的结果能凸显意识形态的操纵及译者的本意。由此看来,革新后的《小说月报》的翻译小说选材特点发生转变不是一种偶然现象,而是反映了翻译话语的变迁,其背后有着深刻的社会历史理由。勒菲弗尔还指出,翻译不能忠实地反映原作的面貌,主要是因为它始终受到三个因素的操纵:意识形态、诗学观和赞助人的力量。由此,本论文将围绕这三个方面对特定历史环境下《小说月报》的翻译小说选材所受到的操纵进行全面浅析,深入发掘《小说月报》翻译小说选材发生突变的根本理由。最后,作者通过比较探讨发现,五四前后社会主流意识形态由社会革新向无产阶级革命的转变才是导致革新之后《小说月报》的翻译小说选材发生突变的根本理由。关键词:改写论述论文《小说月报》(1910-1932)论文翻译小说选材论文意识形态论文
